A non-surgical facelift is any procedure (or series of procedures) that uses non-surgical means of lifting the skin. There are many different ways to try to do this– and it can be difficult to reverse the sagging that happens out age without using a scalpel. But we have come a long way in the last decade in our ability to tighten the skin and restore a youthful look without surgery. At Glow Medispa, we have had a lot of experience with this. EMFACE, laser, radiofrequency, microneedling RF, PRP and PRFM, fillers and sculptra are all tools that can help. We have created the GlowLift using just 2 of these procedures to lift and tighten the skin of the face and neck with the most long-lasting results.
For a long time, the only option was a surgical facelift. A facelift is a big deal. It requires general surgery where the skin is peeled away from the face, excess skin is cut out, and the skin is re-sewn onto the face. There is a significant recovery and cost. But it certainly works to get rid of excess skin by cutting it off. Often the results are very smooth, but not very natural looking, with thin skin stretched out over the bones. Non-surgical facelifts lift and tighten the existing skin using a variety of techniques that build collagen, thicken the skin and tighten it. Any non-surgical technique will not have the kind of results surgery will, especially if your skin is very very droopy, but there are huge advantages over surgery. The downtime for our GlowLift and GlowLift EM is minimal. There is no scarring. The quality of the skin itself is very much improved, in thickness and springiness– a benefit that does not happen at all with a surgical facelift. Stimulating the collagen in the dermis will prevent further thinning of the skin. So, results may not be as dramatic as a facelift, but they can be incredibly beautiful and natural.
At Glow, we sought to find a more effective, non-surgical treatment that would give more permanent results. After 2 years of experimentation, the GlowLift was born. We combine two main procedures that have long-lasting results for lifting and tightening. We use Genius RF to thicken and tighten the dermis of the face and neck and the injectable Sculptra to stimulate collagen in and under the skin. This forms the basis for our non-surgical facelift. We often include laser resurfacing at the same time to even out the skin tone and improve the skin surface texture and appearance. Other procedures can be added on if there are specific areas that need extra attention like saggy hollows under the eyes. In 2022, we added the revolutionary EMFACE to our toolset for non surgical facelifts. We feel EMFACE provides powerful lifting when added to Genius RF and LaseMD Ultra resurfacing. The combination provides a spectacular result without injections or downtime.
With the GlowLift, we harness the power of your own collagen with a special combination of treatments. As you age two major changes are happening in your face:
⦁ The dermis loses collagen, becoming thinned out, wrinkled, and no longer resistant to gravity, so it becomes saggy
⦁ The face loses bone and fat, leading to hollows and a more skeletal appearance, also allowing more draping of the thinned out skin
The GlowLift reverses these two processes, tightening and thickening the skin and filling out the volume loss, with methods that build natural collagen. Both Genius and Sculptra rejuvenate the face with a powerful stimulation of your own collagen. These two modalities work differently but in concert. Genius combines radiofrequency with microneedling to stimulate a massive collagen build-up in the dermis. This dermal remodel thickens and tightens the skin, making it more resistant to gravity and wrinkles. It is the most powerful skin tightening device in the industry today. Sculptra® is an injectable sugar that stimulates collagen, filling out areas of volume loss in the face. Used in combination, these two modalities complement one another, rejuvenating and lifting.
We love the core GlowLift and GlowLift EM because EMFACE, Genius and Sculptra are super safe and can be done on any skin type. For other treatments, not everyone is a good candidate. Laser Resurfacing is our go to adjunct to the GlowLift, but not everyone can have that, especially people with darker skin. PRP or PRFM is very helpful, especially in the under-eye or tear trough area. PRP/PRFM have a huge advantage since this procedure is safe on just about everyone. Fillers can also be used in conjunction with Sculptra for some areas of volume loss. Importantly, we believe that at-home skin care is critically important to improve the yield of your treatments in addition to maintaining the results.
Because the GlowLift uses your body’s own natural collagen to achieve its purpose, the results are very long lasting. Your body will break down collagen about 1-2% each year, so results will slowly fade. But for most procedures that use filler, your body will resorb 100% of it within a year. The results of EMFACE are also shown to last up to a year. So, the GlowLift and GlowLift EM are dramatically longer-lasting compared to fillers and many other types of non-surgical lifts. The GlowLift will not prevent getting older, but the treatment is designed to last years with maintenance.
The short answer is no. Because of the cost, downtime, and stretched out thin-skin look, surgical facelifts are not optimal. Many people are simply not interested in surgery. Many places use dermal fillers to fill out the face in order to stretch the skin – have you heard of the liquid face lift? Dermal fillers have the advantage of immediate results, but they only last so long– the moment they are injected, the body starts to break them down. Lots of spas like this, because it keeps their clients coming back every year (or more often!). Another big problem with using fillers is that if you are filling the space under the skin until it is taut, the face takes on unusual and strange appearance with volume in places that does not look natural. Although dermal fillers still have an important role to play, they are not a complete replacement for a face lift. In short– Dermal Fillers alone cannot accomplish a non-surgical facelift.
There is a very wide range of costs for non-surgical facelifts because there is no one definition. You can expect to pay at least a few thousand dollars, up to $20K depending on where you go and what they are offering. There is one dermal-filler based lift that ranges from $3-6000 just for one session of fillers that will last less than a year. There are other packages that can run in the $10-20K range. Because there is no set definition of a non-surgical facelift, trying to estimate cost is like comparing apples to oranges. It just can’t be done. The best course of action is to find a doctor you trust to tell you the truth and not oversell or overhype a product or procedure.
