Botox & Dysport

Physician-led Botox and Dysport treatments focused on natural movement, facial balance, and refreshed results.

A More Natural Approach to Botox and Dysport

At Glow Medispa, Botox and Dysport are approached as tools for facial balance and subtle refinement, not frozen expressions or dramatic overcorrection.

Our philosophy is simple: the best injectable results are the ones that still look like you.

Every treatment is customized based on your facial anatomy, muscle movement, goals, and comfort level. Some patients want preventative treatment before lines deepen. Others want softer forehead lines, a smoother brow area, or relief from jaw tension or chronic muscle movement. There is no one-size-fits-all approach.

Glow Medispa is a physician-led medical spa with locations in Seattle and Kirkland. Treatments are performed by experienced injectors under medical oversight, with a focus on natural-looking outcomes and long-term patient relationships.

What Are Botox and Dysport?

Botox and Dysport are injectable neuromodulators used to soften dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated facial muscle movement.

These treatments work by temporarily relaxing targeted muscles responsible for lines such as:

  • forehead lines
  • frown lines
  • crow’s feet

Both products are FDA-approved and have been extensively studied in aesthetic medicine.

At Glow Medispa, Botox and Dysport treatments are customized based on facial anatomy, muscle strength, and natural movement patterns rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

Botox vs Dysport: What’s the Difference?

Botox and Dysport work very similarly and produce comparable cosmetic results when properly administered.

Some patients notice:

  • Dysport may set in slightly faster
  • Botox may feel more familiar due to brand recognition
  • Individual response can vary slightly from person to person

The best option often depends less on the product itself and more on:

  • your facial anatomy
  • treatment goals
  • injector technique
  • muscle movement patterns

During your consultation, we’ll help determine which option is the best fit for your goals.

Why Patients Choose Glow Medispa for Botox

Botox and Dysport are highly technique-dependent treatments. The injector matters just as much as the product itself.

At Glow, we focus on:

  • Natural facial movement and expression
  • Customized dosing rather than cookie-cutter treatment plans
  • Facial balance instead of over-treatment
  • Conservative, buildable results
  • Patient education and long-term planning
  • Physician-led oversight and safety

Many patients come to us specifically because they want to avoid looking overdone. Our goal is refreshed, rested, and balanced, not frozen or unnatural.

What Botox and Dysport Can Treat

Botox and Dysport are commonly used to soften dynamic wrinkles caused by repeated muscle movement.

Common treatment areas include:

  • Forehead lines
  • Frown lines (“11’s”)
  • Crow’s feet
  • Lip lines
  • Chin dimpling
  • Downturned corners of the mouth
  • Neck bands

These treatments may also help with:

  • Preventative wrinkle formation
  • Teeth grinding and jaw tension
  • Excessive sweating
  • Migraine symptoms

Clinician Perspective: Why Technique Matters

One of the biggest misconceptions about Botox is that it is simply about erasing wrinkles.

In reality, good Botox treatment requires understanding how facial muscles work together dynamically. Relaxing one area too aggressively without considering surrounding muscles can create heaviness, imbalance, or an unnatural appearance.

At Glow Medispa, treatment planning is individualized. We look at facial movement patterns, muscle strength, symmetry, and how different areas interact before deciding how much product to use and where to place it.

Many patients are surprised to learn that sometimes the best cosmetic outcome comes from using less product, not more.

The goal is not to eliminate all movement. The goal is to soften lines while preserving natural expression and facial character.

What to Expect During Treatment

Appointments are typically quick and require little downtime.

Treatment generally includes:

  • Facial assessment and consultation
  • Customized injection plan
  • Small injections using a fine needle
  • Post-treatment instructions

Most patients return to normal activities the same day.

Botox typically reaches full effect within 1 to 2 weeks. Dysport often sets in a bit faster, around 3 to 5 days.

Results generally last:

  • Botox: about 3 months
  • Dysport: about 4 months

Individual results vary depending on metabolism, muscle strength, and treatment area.

Is Botox Safe?

Botox and Dysport are among the most extensively studied aesthetic treatments available today.

Like any medical treatment, they should be performed by trained and experienced professionals who understand facial anatomy, dosing, and patient selection.

Possible side effects may include:

  • Mild bruising
  • Temporary swelling
  • Headache
  • Temporary asymmetry
  • Rare drooping of the eyelid or brow

During your consultation, we’ll review candidacy, medical history, and any concerns before treatment.

Who Is a Good Candidate?

Botox and Dysport may be appropriate for adults looking to:

  • Soften existing facial lines
  • Prevent deeper wrinkle formation
  • Maintain a refreshed appearance
  • Reduce excessive muscle movement
  • Address jaw tension or teeth grinding

Patients who are pregnant or breastfeeding are generally advised to wait before treatment.

The best way to determine candidacy is through a personalized consultation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are Botox and Dysport made out of?

Both Botox and Dysport are made from the botulinum toxin. They are proteins that are called neuromodulators– with their effect on the nerve ending that cause a muscle to contract.

how much does botox or dysport cost?

Most places charge for Botox and Dysport by the unit, because every person is different and the amount needed varies greatly. Cost per unit of Botox can range from $12 to $22, depending on location. At Glow medispa our price for Botox is $15/U. The cost of Dysport is the same.

how many units will i need?

Every person is different and every area in the body is different. The number of units is directly related to how big and strong the muscles are and how large the area is. Also, each person’s metabolism is different. This is why you can’t really know the answer for any individual without an assessment by an expert. On average, the forehead requires around 10-15U, the 11’s about 16-25U and the crows feet 8-12U for each side.

how long does it take for botox or dysport to work?

On average, Botox takes 1-2 weeks for its full effect and Dysport about 3-5 days.

how long does botox or dysport last?

Botox lasts about 3 months and Dysport about 4 months, on average.

what not to do after botox or dysport?

Don’t massage the area for 24 hours. Take it easy (no exercise) for 24 hours. No face down massage or upside down yoga! We rarely see anyone do anything to mess up their Botox, but best to play it safe!

how long after botox or dysport can you lie down?

There is no hard and fast rule about lying down– being horizontal is not a problem. Just don’t massage the area. Are Botox injections painful?

There is no need to worry about pain when getting Botox or Dysport! Depending on where their injections are targeting, patients tend to report mild to medium levels of discomfort at most.

Do the results look natural?

At Glow Medispa, we are always striving to deliver natural-looking results. When you work with a skilled and experienced injector, you don’t need to worry about that dreaded ‘fake’ appearance.

Can I get Botox or Dysport while pregnant?

Many pregnant and breastfeeding women have gotten Botox or Dysport and had no complications. However, due to the lack of definitive studies, many experts recommend you wait until after pregnancy to get Botox or Dysport treatments.

What is preventative Botox?

Most often, people get Botox injections once they start to notice wrinkles and fine lines. However, preventative Botox is the idea that receiving injections before the onset of wrinkles will delay their development taking place. With preventative Botox, you could keep your skin smooth as long as possible!

What happens if I stop getting Botox or Dysport?

There are no serious side effects to worry about if you stop getting Botox or Dysport treatments. Your wrinkles and fine lines will return, though likely at a much more gradual pace than they would have if you never had the injections.
