Sculptra vs Filler
Sculptra and hyaluronic acid fillers can both play a role in facial rejuvenation, but they work differently.
Hyaluronic acid fillers add volume more immediately. They can be useful when the goal is targeted definition or correction in a particular area. Hyaluronic acid is a natural substance that your body starts resorbing the moment it is placed. Typically most of it is eliminated from your body in 6 to 12 months although occasionally these fillers can last a lot longer in the body
Sculptra stimulates collagen gradually. It may suit someone who is comfortable waiting for results and wants to address changes associated with collagen loss over a series of treatments. Sculptra is a biostimulator. It stimulates your natural cells to make more collagen. It volumeizes slowly over time. That collagen is also very long-lasting, breaking down as all the other collagen in your body, about 1-2% per year
Neither approach is automatically better or more natural-looking. The result depends on choosing the right treatment, amount and placement for your face. Sometimes that means Sculptra, sometimes it means dermal filler, and sometimes the two have complementary roles.

How does Sculptra work?
Sculptra contains poly-L-lactic acid, or PLLA, which stimulates collagen production after injection. The improvement develops gradually as your skin responds to treatment.
How is Sculptra different from filler?
Dermal filler is a direct volumizer. Sculptra is a biostimulator, triggering your body to make more collagen The main practical difference is timing and purpose: hyaluronic acid fillers offer more immediate volume, while Sculptra supports gradual improvement through collagen stimulation. Results from Sculptra are generally more long-lasting. The volume generated is from your own body's buildup of collagen over time. Collagen is then broken down at about 1-2% per year. At your consultation, we’ll help you understand which fits your goals.
How much does Sculptra cost?
Sculptra at Glow Medispa is $810 per vial for members. Your total cost depends on the number of vials and appointments recommended. We’ll discuss the full treatment plan and expected cost before you begin.

How many vials or treatments will I need?
Your plan depends on the areas being treated, your starting point and your goals. Multiple appointments may be recommended. At Glow, we’ll explain the proposed amount and schedule during your consultation.
What is a Sculptra appointment like?
We use topical anesthetic and prepare Sculptra with additional anesthetic to help with comfort. An appointment typically takes less than an hour. Before you leave, we’ll explain aftercare, including any massage instructions.
Is there downtime?
Swelling, bruising and tenderness can occur, so allow some flexibility around social plans. Recovery varies. We’ll discuss what to expect and any temporary activity restrictions before treatment.
When will I see results?
Improvement may become visible as early as one month, with results developing gradually. Your timing will depend on your response and treatment plan.
How long do results last?
Results develop over time and continue to improve over a period of 1 to 2 years. After that if there is no additional treatment, the collagen that was built up from the treatment slowly breaks down at 1-2% per year. The various aging processes, of course, are ongoing and maintenance of any treatment must continue for the results to be long-lasting., Individual results vary. We’ll discuss follow-up care and whether additional treatment may be appropriate over time.
What are the potential risks?
Possible side effects include swelling, tenderness, redness, pain, bruising, bleeding, itching and lumps or nodules. Rare but serious complications can occur if an injectable enters a blood vessel, including tissue injury or vision loss. We’ll review your medical history, suitability and treatment risks before you decide.
Does Glow offer Sculptra for areas of the body?
Glow does not recommend Sculptra for buttock enhancement. Sculpture should also never be placed in the neck. For other body concerns, contact us to discuss which treatments we offer and what may be appropriate for your goals, as Sculptra is rarely the appropriate solution
